"Where are you from?"
Wife: Where did you come from?Verbs have no explicit past tense in Ainu. However, it is clear from context that this should be translated in the past tense.
Girl: I came from Tokyo.
Wife: Thank you for coming from such a faraway place. Take a good look!
Girl: There are so many things I have never even seen before.
Wife: It's okay to pick them up and look at them.
Girl: What is this?
Husband: It's an ikupasuy.
Girl: I'd like to have it.
Husband: This is something special to meLiterally, "a thing that I value/hold dear"., so I am not selling it.
